Task 3
Jobs
That Are Only For Commercial Radio
Interactive Sales
These are the job roles that will only be on a commercial radio
station. They would be in charge of sorting out: banners, buttons, pop ups,
email campaigns, and online promotions, to Android handsets, iPhones, iPads and
mobile apps. These are things that will only be used by a commercial radio
station because they would be promoting their station as well as the other
things they have been paid to advertise by other companies. The aim for
commercial radio is always to maximise revenues. This is done by getting people
to call in for competitions, putting adverts on for other businesses in which
they have been paid for, having more listeners than other stations so that they
can get more advertising opportunities and mobile apps to get people listening
on the go. This Job role is also about selling ad space across their website
and through e-mail campaigns.
Telesales
This is a job role in commercial radio that consists of calling up
businesses trying to get them to buy some airtime on the station to play their
advertisements. The callers must have the skills to show all the benefits of
commercial airtime to all types of clients. This wouldn’t be necessary in a
Non-commercial station because there is nothing to advertise.
Commercial Programming
The radio station needs to make sure that everything they broadcast
fits in with the overall brand and its image so that it fits in with the
business. They need to make sure they unleash the ultimate entertainment for
their customers. The aim for commercial programmers is to sustain the current
brand image the radio station has so it is continuous for the people listening.
The reason why this wouldn’t be used in Non-commercial radio is because this
also involves broadcasting the advertisements that are aimed at the radio
stations listeners.
Insight
These job roles are required to think ahead so that they can
predict what’s going to happen to the business in the future to see if it is
stable or not. This is determined by forecasts and market changes. This helps
the radio station and their clients be prepared for the upcoming changes. This
will help them find out when and when not to spend money on advertising
campaigns.

ReplyDeleteIt's great that you explain that these are jobs that are only available in the commercial radio sector.
The only thing that you really need to improve here is to make it clear how a commercial station is different, and that is the reason why certain jobs only exist in this sector.
It would also be a good idea to outline any job roles that may exist in the student or hospital radio sector - perhaps something to do with fund raising.
